Looking for some suggestions for corals to go on the upper surface and "vertical" surfaces of the atch in the photo below. LPS preferred (hence posting here) - relatively high light and medium flow.

(Please ignore the dirty back wall - task for the weekend)

For upper almost always acro. A couple of acans will work. Try some easy yet colorful acro such as cliffs, bonsai, Green slimer, staghorn and setosa

Since you prefer LPS, maybe torch or hammer (euphyllia in general). They tolerate high light and can be glued in easily. I struggled with this dilemma as well. They also are wavy and give a good touch to hide the bare rock.

My advice ,, try and get your hands on a Par meter ,, find out what you are dealing with ,, then decide on what corals to place in the spots you want ,,

Thanks for that ....

Is it not possible for people to say " Oh a "so and so" coral would look good there"?

If I look at the coral p o r n online not one vendor in Europe says "This coral needs a PAR of 123.563"

Some general guidance would be super ...

People can say anything ,, a general rule is SPS corals on top ,, and work you way down your scape with lesser light loving corals as you work your way down to the sand bed ,, here is the thing ,, its your money buying the corals going into your tank ,, you will be doing the coral testing with your coral $$ ,, there is nothing wrong with that ,, but too much light on some corals can kill them quick ,, a Par meter test will take the guessing game out of it ,, it will save your corals and $$ ,, I would bet someone in your circle of reefing friends will have a Par Meter ,, check with your LFS ,, they may have one you can use or rent ,,
