I have had this little frogspawn for nearly 1.5 years now, when I first purchased it both heads were alive. Slowly one side bleached out then the other then it seemed to stabilize. This all occurred within 3-4 months of the purchase. What is confusing me is the fact that I have a frogspawn and hammer in the same tank that have taken off like a rocket, but not this poor little guy. I removed him from my rock work and placed it on a magnetic frag rack and have been slowly moving it around the tank trying to find were it seems happy. It appears the happiest about 3/4 the way up my 40B and with a moderate flow. I have not gotten this coral to take food in awhile.

I know everyone will ask about parameters, I do not have any current numbers. I monitored the tank very closely for the first year with weekly water change and tests, usually runs about 0-20 ppm for nitrates and zero on trite and ammonia. I only have one clown and a chromis in the tank along with cuc so very low bioload.

I am getting more involved with my tank again and will start testing soon again. I run instant ocean with RODI at 1.025-26. I do not dose anything. Maintenance is 5 gal water change every 2 weeks and I clean the canister filter once a month, its a Marlin rated for 150 gal tank.

I also plan on adding a sump within a few months, the sump is already bought Eshopps ADV-200 with a Jaboa pump and Eshops HOB overflow box. All purchased waiting to see if we close on a house before setting it up. Notice I bought over sized...

Also the damage to the larger Frogspawn was being done by a peppermint shrimp no longer in the tank:mad: The pictures were taken when I was doing a 30% water change, just thought the tank needed a good replenishing. Everyone appears to have liked that decision:)

Questions:

Should i cut off the skeleton from the bleached head?

Should I do anything to help this little guy out, its surviving but not thriving?

Thank you in advance.

Were you able to get parameters yet? How is he now?

One thing my frogspawn and hammers hated was a hot aquarium. Don’t let go over 80 degrees. Good luck

The frogspawn has not made any noticeable changes since posted, however I did get some more extensive water testing done. I am now dosing a two part calcium alkalinity system daily.

PH: 8.0
Amonia: 0
Nitrite:0
Nitrate:0
Phosphate:0
Alkalinity:1.5
Calcium: think it was 380?

Temperature is around 76F

I am rechecking all of the parameters this Friday.

Thank you for checking in and sorry about the delayed response I was traveling to and from Baltimore the last two days.

Alk 1.5?? And calcium seems a lil low as well.

Yikes! I would slowly get that back.in range.

This is the first time I've had to dose in 2 years. I'm assuming my pavona and leptosaris are starting to pull trace elements since they are growing like weeds. My LFS has we using bionic two part at 10ml per day, we will see what happens.
