Suggestions for restarting a siphon easily?

I have a Tunze Overflow box for getting water from my DT into my sump. This works well, but the last couple of times I've performed water changes, I've had trouble restarting the siphon and sucking in aquarium water isn't exactly nice.

Does anyone have any suggetions on as easier way to restart these that doesn't involving injesting water?

Well...ovbiously! Even if you don't swallow it, it's not nice in the mouth (maybe you like that )
