Looking to get a new return pump for an 80 gallon cube. There are mixed reviews on all of them it seems like so curious what others would do. Needs to be pseudo budget friendly.

Are you looking for AC or DC? I really like the Sicce Syncra pumps. They're quiet and can move alot of water :) I've used two now, the 3.0 and the 4.0 and they've always ran good for me :)

DC would be cool for the controllability of it for sure!
I've never used one, but hope to in the future, but the Ecotech Vectra pumps have always sparked my interest. I've used the Ecotech Vortechs and loved them, and want to try a Vectra some day :)

Coral Box DCA 6000 pump, I have one on my 120 very quiet, it barely is enough, but my tank cannot handle flow so it would be perfect for a 80 gallon tank. You can purchase it from Reef Breeders.

I just ordered up a EcoTech Vectra S2. I understand EcoTech is working on a new way to control their equipment, it's called Mobias. It's currently in beta testing.

I like Sicce, Eheim, and Fluval pumps using AC and if you wanted DC control Vectra and Reef Octo VarioS pumps.

Sicce, aquamaster or Jebao DC will meet most needs and all listed are quiet
