Suggestions required for setup an marine aquarium

Well the first step is finding a tank. I recommend bigger is better. Larger tanks buffer water issues and they normally don't cost much more in the long run. The next step is determining how parent you are. The reason for this is because you need to choose between several options and your choices will dictate the setup time. Things like live rock vs dead rock. Live rock is faster but has caused me all kinds of issues from algae to pests. Live sand vs bulk sand vs no sand . You will need to decide if you will be making your water or buying it. I highly recommend rodi water. Then your salt. I use red sea but it is a bit pricey. I hear it really doesn't matter. Then you will need to determine your filtration. If you want a sump i recommend a drilled tank. Just makes things easier and you don't have to worry about a Siphon. Then you fill up the tank and let it cycle. Takes about a month and there are a lot of options just search cycling aquarium. Everyone has there opinion.

Welcome to R2R! A great starter tank is a 65gal in my opinion. It is only 3 feet long and 18 inches wide but still lets you have a nice aquascape. A LFS near me was selling a whole NEW setup for right around 400 bucks, thats tank stand and canopy. Not too bad at all. As for rock go dry/dead. BulkReefSupply has a great selection of rock as well as marco rock.

I recommend any tank that is as deep as it is high. It will allow for a lot of different oceanscapes and the optics of the tank make it look shower than it is.
