I am setting up a 30 gallon reef tank in the next few months, I was saving for a refugium/sump, but decided to blow the money on more corals for the biocube. Here i am again, saving up for the filters. Anyways, when i FINALLY get the tank set up all the way, I am really struggling over what to put in it, my initial thought was a snowflake eel and a frogfish (I've heard so much controversy about whether or not a snowflake should be housed in a 30 gallon, it seems to be about half yes and half no, either way, it just doesn't seem right if 50% percent are saying no.) That leaves me with just a frogfish, which are cool, however, they are not very active fish and there will be practically zero movement to the tank outside of feeding time, I can't even put in any shrimp or crabs because he will eat them. So this really leaves me on the debate of whether or not to even have a frogfish and instead go with a more basic reef tank, or go with the frog and research a buddy for him. What are your thoughts, one of my ideas was to do a pistol shrimp/goby pair if i did a basic reef tank, any ideas? Thanks for the advice.
