So I have a gyre and have the common power cord splitting at the driver issue. I've been debating buying a new driver for $70 for a while now. Then I stumbled upon the Sugru hacking puddy at Lowes. You can form this putty whichever way you want and it cures into a rubberish texture.

My question is, have any of you used this in the same manner? And will it leach anything into my system?

I don't know the exact defect you're talking about, but it's generally a bad idea to try and fix power cords to submersible electronics.

I wouldn't try that stuff regardless. Tunze has a safe, flexible epoxy that I'd suggest....except for what I already said...it's generally a bad idea.

You would have to be the final judge though.
