Suitable bulb for my refugium?

Picked this up at Walmart, 5 bucks, led and is a super purple color. Think it be ok for my 5 gallon fuge on my 40 g breeder?

My concern will be the inability to dim. But you can overcome that by varying the photoperiod up or down. I would start with a short photo period and move up till you get the growth you want.

So it could possibly be too bright? Do I look for browning or anything along those lines?

Ime its harder to fix burnt macro than under lit macros. I would always start with lower light unless using a regular cfl bulb.

Gotchya I've been running 5 hour photo periods reverse lighting schedule, I'll see how it does.

What macroalgae are you growing in your refugium? I would have a hard time believing that 7W of LED will burn any macroalgae.

Just chaeto. It seems to just being getting dark green and dense.
