Sulfur Reactor Recommendations?

Yes

okay, thanks. What are we using for sulfur media these days - sulfur Prills for soil. Any reason to run chaeto or microbacter7 in addition?

There are a few places that still make sulfur reactors. The bigger problem is the scarcity of the sulfur media. Either you cannot find it or its crazy expensive. I bought mine used and it came with a lifetime supply of the LSM media but that’s discontinued. I did find this on amazon that looks like it probably works, but have not tried it myself to verify.

I noticed the scarcity the last couple weeks. The only aquarium sulfur is at BRS by Skimz and it’s out of stock. Last month, I ordered a reactor; so, I purchased the above last night on Amazon. If your not able to source LSM, what are you using now and what will you be using in the future?

Best,

LSM is out, reborn is out, toilet paper is out, what is this world coming to!!?

I used a sulfur denitrator for a bit, it helped some, but my issue was if it clogged at all or the flow rate changed, the reactor would start to crash right away (ORP plummeting). I didnt like that liability, so I shut her down. This was before cheap Kamoer pumps were available, using a peri pump on the output would have made it much easier.

I installed a Aquamaxx sulfur reactor a month ago, ended up buying the refill media kit for the sulfur. BRS did have a ton a month ago, but just checked and it already sold out. Mixed reviews on the sulfur reactor though, may actually remove it.

I don't think sulfur goes bad. I just bought 17.5 pounds of sulfur and 4.4 pounds of calcium media for a Korallin 4002 refill kit from Marine Depot. (It was really expensive, arrrrgh.) MD has one left.

I'll be storing the sulfur in an air tight container, and returning the 8 lbs of sulfur Prills to Ebay, and the Caribsea ARM to MD.

As far a I can tell, sulfur does not ‘go bad’. Consumption in the reactor is also very slow so it lasts a long time.

I certainly hope it does not go bad. I have two full gallon containers of LSM that i do not imagine I will be needing for some years still.

Hi
What would be ratio of sulfur per liter or gallon, and how much buffer ARM media.
Thank you

FYI, I purchased this sulfur from amazon. What I received was 95% sulfur, which will dissolve in water. So, be sure to order high purity sulfur prills. I found another place online, but will wait to post where it is until I get the package to make sure it is what we need. A lot of garden elemental sulfur is 90% sulfur and 10% bentonite clay. I now have lots of sulfur for my fruit trees, lol! Now waiting for new shipment to start my sulfur reactor.

For those that are looking for 99.9% pure sulfur prills, I found a good source at a reasonable cost. 4 pounds for $14.79.

Here's a better pic so u can see the size difference
