Sulphur smell, what is it?

When I do water changes I pump the water out of my sump using a utility pump. The sink that I pump the water into lately smells like rotten eggs (sulphur) when I do this. The system itself (display and sump) does not have a smell.

Any idea what this is?

My guess is there is tank water caught in the sink P-trap. Do you run the sink with fresh water to flush it out after the water change?

Might be rotting organics in the trap under the sink. Flushing it out with a lot of water should help.

My thoughts are the same as everyone else, sounds like something in the drains p trap. turning on tap for a few minutes and letting it run should help.

Do you use a garden hose for the sump pump and do you drain it of water after use?

I get a similar smell from garden hoses I use when water is stored in them between uses.

Thanks, everyone! I think it must be the p-trap. The smell never lingers, but that's probably because I'm running the faucet when I'm doing cleaning tasks. Glad it's not the tank!

I'm not really sure what you mean. I have a filter over my faucet and i filled a gallon jug up with it an slowly poured it in the tank. Then i added the conditioner. I haven't changed the water bc I've had it for less then a week
