Summer 2020 chiller recommendation needed.

Hello reefers, what are the latest wisdom regarding chillers this year? My last chiller i owned was in 2006 that was a 1/4 hp Hamilton unit from the 90's. Whats the best option in your opinions for red sea 350 set up in the basement of cool house. Please give your wisdom on temp controller pair. I run my tank at 76-77 and plan to set up controller to kick at 78

Try fans first - strong ones like a Vornado, not some computer fans. If I turn fans on when my Haldies come on, my tank never heats up... if I wait until it heats up, then I am already behind.

If that does not work, then try and find a used one of solid brand. You should be able to find some if you are anywhere near a big city.

If new, then go with quality like AquaLogic. I hate internal controllers since I like to use a dual stage, but to each their own. Ranco have never let me down...

Thank you. looks like AL smallest model is 1/4 hp. Feeling like I may get away with smaller chiller. Any suggestions for 90 g total system?

Tradewinds are good chillers as well.

I’ve a bad habit of not maintaining my chillers ..... so I’ve owned a few. Hands down my favorite of those is my current tradewinds unit. Uses a ranco controller which is a big plus.
