I actually posted this question last year on a different forum but didn't get a response. I have three tanks in a fish room of sorts. There are two fairly large windows and a lot of sunlight gets in the room, particularly in the afternoon and early evening. Living at a fairly Northern Latitude I get a lot of sunlight for periods that extend past the normal light cycle. It seem sthat my corals fare better in the winter months with improved polyp extension and faster growth. Could this background lighting have much affect? I am considering shortening the light cycle that I provide.

I remember watching a tidal gardens video on youtube which is an aquaculture facility in ohio in a big greenhouse. I think he had issues with the extra light based on seasons. Maybe put up a curtain and control the light yourself. Corals are from areas closer to equator so they are used to stability with small variance.

to avoid that I just made my photo period longer:), I call It , "A day in Fiji"

It should be a consideration in the intensity you choose.
FWIW Ive seen folks BLAST the Acros for long periods with little effect. (lower alk stable lower nutrients, Old school)
