Sump Arrangement ?

Hi,
I'm just setting up my sump and i wonder if you guys can give me some pointers on which way round the components of my sump should go.

So i have 4 compartments in my sump. In the drain i want to put a filter sock, in the next area i was thinking of putting some bio media like ceramic balls or such like, in the next compartment i was thinking of putting my protein skimmer, and in the last compartment i will put the return pump.

my question is which should come first in the flow from drain to return, the skimmer or the bio media ?

IMHO, it makes almost no difference.

I have a 2 chamber sump. The drain runs into a filter sock at one end, and that section also has a gyre wave maker for water movement and chaeto macroalgae. It flows over one wall and under the next. The second chamber has both the skimmer and the return pump. No sweat, and works like a charm.
