Good day everyone, I would like you guys advice on the spacing between baffles, above is my diy sump this is the first chamber from return and I have the water going over then under, how much space should be between the baffles please?

No expert here, but I'd say however much space you need for it's function. Some baffles are to just sepate chambers/release bubbles and others to house media...kinda up to preference and available space really...you may be able to glean so inspiration from commercially available sumps.

I would leave enough room to get a sponge or something down inbetween so you can clean the glass.
ok thanks for the reply, it sure isn't easy as how it looks on youtube lol, getting silicone in between the baffles is a pain

3/4" would be as narrow as i would go. Lay a bead of silcone down on the sump, then slide the glass slowly into it. Then silicone the other side. Do it with both sides then clamp them in place.

Would be a LOT easier with 2 people.
Have fun!

It doesn't have to be beautiful. It doesn't have to be structurally sound like the outer walls of the tank as there's equal pressure on both sides and nothing bad can really happen. The seams doesn't have to be completely water tight. So do your best and don't stress about it if it doesn't looks as neat as you would have liked. It'll be fine.
The only other tip I can give is that if you're making a triple baffle bubble trap, go under - over- under as that is a lot easier to clean.

Ok I'm planning to plum a dual reactor in my plumbing then add my gfo and carbon there, I did do a one inch on my last chamber so I could do the same but just add a sponge to keep chateo from going into the return section

Looks good. Something satisfying about doing things yourself.

Thank you, you are so right and it helps you to learn alot better doing a water test notice one little drip but someone said earlier that a little drip is a big deal, what size tank do you have or working on? I'm upgrading to a 40breeder

Building 40 breeder frag tank. Have 7 foot 220 that I am accumulating supplies for so I can start the build. Taking longer than planned
