So, Ive had it in my head for awhile Ive wanted to design my own sump for my 200 gallon tank.
I like the Trigger Sump under it now, but it is just not exac the way I really want it.
Since we will be moving soon, I thought this might be a good time to swap it out.
Started the design today. Still in the design process.
One thing I have to also consider, since this new sump would take up most of my space under the tank...
I need to figure out were my closed loop pump will sit

This draft of the sump is 3 foot long x 2 foot wide. (15" tall)
I wanted to clean things up, set it up to work with my plumbing and incorporate the reactors into the sump area.
This will in my opinion give it a cleaner look. Will allow me to make the skimmer area a little bigger and also add in a ATO water storage area.

This is just the first draft. Still looking and will prob make a few changes.

second draft

Though I would also post the second draft. Making more room in the return area for the closed loop pump. Prefer to keep it in the sump Just in case there was a leak

Your closed loop would not be in the sump - not considered a CL if it's taking water from the sump. Usually the pump sits externally of the tank.

How about something simple like this

Section that says closed loop, but this is not closed loop as per your design, you should call this second pump that is taking water from your sump and it will be adding more turn over of water from sump. Closed loop is taking water from tank and then dumping back in tank again.....JMO

Closed loop for tanks equals DANGER!

If you use the right parts, sch 80 bulkheads, and sch 80 PVC parts, and install them properly, you will be just fine. I have installed 100's of CL systems, never had an issue, just worked on a tank that I did 16 years ago, still going strong. J
