Anyone have a tool or idea on how to clean debris out of a sump that is at ground level? A vacuum would do just fine but its kinda cumbersome to get out and clean the parts whenever I use it. I have a small 2 gallon wet/vac but it will fill in couple minutes.
Siphon would be great but not enough height to keep the siphon.

Just looking for ideas.

Thanks

Eheim makes a "sludge extractor". Its basically a battery operated vacuum. Its not the most powerful thing, but it is convenient.

I just use a small aquaclear ph to suck out all the detrious while I'm doing water changes... It can sit completly flat on bottom of the sump and I have a house pushed on it that feeds a 5gal bucket.. If that makes sense lol...

Use a old canister filter with floss.

I used to use a big old fluval with a bunch of stuffing inside to vacuum crap out of tanks and sumps... in goes yuck, out goes clean.

Just so happens I have a couple of old fluval 305's collecting dust. Great idea.
thanks

Dude, you could strap the fluvals onto your back and run them down your arms and be a sump warrior... awesome.
