sump cleaning???

so, how often do you totally beak apart the sump and really clean everything? the skimmer, fudge and all pumps. I,m thinking once every 6 months
I do every 6 to 8 months depended on how dirty it's gotten. If I'm able to simply siphon out any detritus I'll go longer.

I did it for the first time in 2 years. That was because I didn’t have anything to do. It was’nt that dirty either... my sump is 4.5ft

How dirty is dirty for a huge? I'm curious coz mines new but the walls were all algae and the rocks are getting there too so I tossed a single snail. Not sure when I should go for a whole clean

I say every 6 months or so...it’s such a pain in the butt to clean it though!! I totally disconnect mine and pull it out and scrub it down in the bathtub! Take apart skimmer and return pump too and clean those... I’m gonna get a wet/dry vac instead because I know I risk breaking the sump when I do this...I broke one before (dropped it)...

I haven’t yet, been 2 years. I’m planning to do a full scrub down next week or the week after while I’m off from work.

Clean clean, never lol. Every now and then i take a turkey baster to get out the large particles. I clean the pumps(return, skimmer, media reactor) whenever they show a decrease in flow or effectiveness. If i want to show it off a quick front glass cleaning.

i use this

as needed and pick up any build up on weekly basis takes all about 5 mins to vacuum it up

nice, does it clog easily? or is it easy to remove junk sucked up, like small pieces of cheato

Doesn't pick up anything that don't fit in propeller mainly justbtour detritus and sand and stuff like that all the bigger stuff if is there you'll have to do it buy hand, however I attach piece of old filter sock at the end of the hose and zip tie it so that way all I am doing is vacuuming and not taking water our of the system at all. Very easy and practical for my purposes bc I don't do water changes couldn't even tell you last time I did water change so this is great for me
