Just replaced old sump with a Fuji cube there is a compartment between skimmer compartment and the return section they say can be used for a refugium but it’s not that big. Thoughts on is it possible or what other use there could be. Thanks

Refugiums dont need to be large, could be used for other equipment or more rock.

fuge needs a good light and dirty water.
Add some live rock, chaeto and some pods.

Ok so do I just throw a handful of chaeto in there? pods.. Eh I have a wrasse In the tank that would hunt down every last 1 that got in the tank so I would have them in the sump but not in the tank. What additional equip? I don’t really have any problems but thought a reactor gfo carbon maybe but that’s pretty pretty small area I was just looking for something to do with the space

Chaeto would help with nitrates/phosphates, but you would have to run a light. Could put pods in too if you were planning to have a mandarin at some point.

As far as a light would one of the cheap led’s on line work don’t feel like dropping 300 on a kessil

I'd put chaeto in the first compartment. It works great in mine. Just be sure to place something on the bottom hole to stop it from getting through. I have sand and lots of pods, snails, and worms to eat all of the detritus. I only use socks when I am vacuuming the sand in the DT. My fuge light is on the side of the sump so it stays dry and no salt creep. Works great.

If you have pods in the sump, you will definitely have them in the DT. my tank is full of em. my sleeper goby can't keep up. And he's quite busy.

Big swing in PH during off time. Drops a little over a point. I'm either going to do on and off cycling or a dimmable light. My current light will not last long being turned on and off multiple times every night.
Maybe use the fuge light on your mangrove instead of the a80. Are you happy with that, mines back in the box, no par.

Haven't decided yet. I got it cheap as an open box buy. Need full spectrum for mangroves and the kessil does that. It is also temporary, no fish or corals, just the mangroves for now.

pods would never stand a chance against my wrasse I see this fish do nothing all day but search for any snack I got him for some bugs I got a couple off years ago on my acros and he destroyed them but now everything else is fair game
