I want to take my current 29gal sump and divide it up into 3 sections instead of 2. Currently the refigium, skimmer and water from my over flow go in first section and then over my divider to the return which is kinda small. I want to up date it to 3 section. I want to keep my sandbed and leave it in the tank just make it deeper in the center. I am concerned about disrupting it and having the tank cycle and loose live stock. Any Ideas or tips.

i did see the picture of you sump in your other thread, but not really sure how your refugium is set up in there, you can add a basket or some sort of container (another smaller tank)to separate your fuge from your skimmer the taller it is the deeper the sandbed you can put in it so long as its below the waterline... if you wanted to go the simple but effective route.

The 2 liter is next to the refigium, skimmer and overflow from the tank is in this section. On the other side of the support for the stand is the return sump. I want to try to divide this up in 3 sections. Sand bed is only about 1-2inches with some live rock.
