In my sump I have a red mitrax crab and two hermit crabs (different areas). I was hand feeding them fresh scallop meat this morning and I noticed a big difference between the types.
The mitrax acted like my hand was a predator and attacked and pinched me. Then moved off into another part of the sump. Leaving breakfast behind.
The hermits come running when they sense my hand. They will literally lay on their backs in order to better take the food from my hand. *Who's a good crabby wabby?* They've learned who I am and that I'm the bearer of food.
Hermits: 1
Mitrax crab: 0
