I have a 60G display and 30G sump (fills up about 1/2 way while tank is running), what kind of CUC would yooz guys recommend. I moved two trochus snails (1 in return chamber & 1st chamber with my skimmer.. should I add anything else?

My 2nd chamber is a bare bottom refugium.

You don't mention what you have in sump that needs cleaned up by CUC... concerned you've sentenced them to starve & die...

I have tried growing out peppermint shrimp in sump, but gave up and flip/flopped 5" six line wrasse into sump and peppermint shrimp up into display tank. While something needs explicitly fed in sump, feeding down there actually caused more over nutrients in tank so if you have CUC in sump defeats CUC typical intent (but background... my wrasse ate 2 peppermint shrimp... so sump idea was get shrimp to maximum adult monster size)

Theres little point in putting snails in your sump, they are in your DT to keep the surfaces clean of algae and detritus

No!!! Never put cuc anywhere but the DT. Refugiums are the only exception, as they have sufficient algae growth.

I have a couple small snails in my fuge that help keep hair algae under control In it.

I have stomatella snails which spawn in the tank so I can’t really control where the babies end up. I can tell you though that even though I have a very large refugium, I find dozens of shells down there every week due to snails that have starved to death. I would not recommend putting cuc down there

The sump is my dungeon, those who break rules of the DT get sentenced
ROFL - Yep - my first chamber is same - mind if I use that in the future? I was referring to sump & DT as basement and penthouse... but dungeon is funnier than basement for sump

That was my idea but I saw a lot of other gunk in the 1st & 3rd chamber.. figured they’d go to town.
siphon it with a little 1/4" tube from local hardware store, or even airline tubing... i didn't think that dusty junk would suck up since sump low and bucket low, but voila - suck on end of tube or hold in return water flow and you are off & cleaning easy! Now I try to do it every 3-4 months when it gets ugly enough to bug me...

lol definitely , I alternate sometime it’s purgatory, the upside down, and then the dungeon. I’ve brought judgement on a peppermint shrimp and emerald crab so far.

ROFL - for me it was 5" six line wrasse for eating 2 new peppermint shrimp bought in case aiptasia was in DT (saw 1... where 1, there is more...) ... Guess peppermint shrimp hang around/causing trouble

Yea that’s a rule breaker lol my peppermint shrimp ignored aptasia and ate my RBTA(survived and healed luckily) so ye swift judgement

I've heard it was fake news peppermints ate RBTA... Darwin will rule my tank, given that sad real news. Wondering who is most fit (wrasse). Wrasse got early release due to red planaria flatwork outbreak once he was in dungeon not keeping worms in check (didn't even know I had flatworms!) but while he was serving his sentence 3 replacement peppermints went in. Most recent ones learned where to hide, but my anenomes are acting twitchy so now wonder if peppermints to blame... but the peppermints will be eaten by wrasse if shrimp aren't super careful

Ye I thought so to , but if they eat aptasia what’s to stop them from eating other anemones and coral? I learned the hard way woke up to like 8 tentacles of my rbta ripped off
