Sump design review

Well geez fellas I guess we aren’t done yet. Won’t fit but luckily my tank’s back is not facing the wall. I’ve heard that I can just get rid of this middle leg (back) and then put it back in somehow so that my sump would fit. What do you guys think?

The tank is completely filled up by the way, 75 gallons

Hello buddies this is my first diy sump design (30g long for a 75g display), does the measurements and chambers look sensible enough to implement?

Nice layout but you need flow and a drain area which will not send your fuge media and frags tumbling

(bump) any advice anyone? Equipment and stuff sitting out in the living room need to get that cleaned up

I guess if you have to you could brace the tank somehow, then remove the center brace and replace it. I would not recommend leaving it out for long.

Also I know your sump is done but you should have left out the last baffle before the pump. You want the last baffle before pump to be “under”.

I think it is under if I am not mistaken but anyways, decided to go with an open top. Really did not want to mess with breaking apart my stand and honestly I like it for what it is. Used like a sliver of mildew resistant silicone by accident but I don’t think it will do anything substantial

I was going to say, I have zero ideas about that middle part of your stand. I know a lot of those pieces are structural in a lot of stands (but not all). So it's kind of hard to say specifically. I know I've seen a lot of setups work just fine without the middle part if it's not structural, but I've also seen some that bow in the middle and cause more issues later down the road just from the weight if they are.

I like that idea too.
I used to have chaeto as the sole filter for a 14g biocube and i loved pruning and rinsing the deteitus from it!
This sounds amazing, I have a 14g biocube now, do you have any pictures of your old cheato setup on your 14g?

I Dont but it was as simple as removing any sponge or filter media on the overflow chamber and throwing in a ball with a magnet light on the back. Let it grow dense so it filters finer particles.

No other mechanical filtration? Just simply a magnetic light & chaeto in the 2nd compartment?
