So I'm in the process of designing a sump for my 93 gallon cube. Currently it has a 20g tall sump which has super thin acrylic baffles that have blown their silicone seams. The floor pattern is from right to left instead of left to right, the overflow pipe coming from the tank is just a single down pipe and the return is braided vinyl tubing. I want to pick some people's brains and get their thoughts on the benefits from switching the flow pattern left to right, if there are any advantages over the other way around. And second, I'd like to get some design ideas and inspiration for building a creative sump that will be able to house my skimmer and a refugium. How little is too little for a fuge to really be effective? Is a waste of space to attach racks to the back side of baffles to put things like filter floss or chemipure or any other type of mechanical filtration? I would like to incorporate some of these, but don't want to give up valuable real estate for my refugium to give those other means of filtration a dedicated space
