I need some ideas for sump designs. It's a 65g tall sump for a 120h fatboy tank. I am willing to do any customization needed to make it the best. I was thinking a wet/dry with refuge and protein skimmer. Will I need any more spots for filtration? How big should I give each area? How high do I keep the water level. First time running a sump so I was looking for more clarification if power runs out and over flowing and keeping it from overflowing cause I do not want it to happen ha. I have both pictures of the tank to give you an idea. Also i am building the over flow in my tank cause right now the tank has caps over the holes that are drilled. So how big should I make the overflow box around the hole. U circled where the hole are. Any advice is appreciated thanks ahead of time.

If this is going under display you should check room in stand. Tall tank is likely not a good idea/too tall for skimmer and macro removal, etc

Would base sump Sizes around skimmer you want.
In first section skimmer, second section fuge, bubble trap, then return pump section

Why to tall. I can make a stand to raise the pump in the tank. Would that work? I am building a stand to meet the height requirements also cause current tank stand wont work

If you can make the stand then should be ok. Maybe a lil on the hi side for viewing?

Having some room will make everything you do diwn there easier

The thing these days is ghost overflow with bean animal plumbing

Just out of curiosity... Is the protein skimmer going in the sump for that freshwater tank (with the flowerhorn)? Just asking because it won't perform well without salt in the water. It'll aerate, but won't pull much out.
