Although I still have a pretty long time before i can start setting up a tank, ive been thinking about sump designs. Do yall think I would run into any problems with this design?

Having the return chamber in the back behind equipment can be cumbersome. I used to have an Eshopps R200 sump that had a rear return chamber and I though it was a pain maintenance wise. Also, changing out the fleece roller with the skimmer blocking it would also be a pain IMO.

That‘s why you mostly see left to right layouts where you have unfettered access to each compartment. It makes maintenance and upkeep much easier due to ease of access.

Im planning on having side doors which will give access to the fleece roller but i see what you’re saying about the return

I have the r200 and it hasn't been an issue accessing the return pump, the few times I have.
Do you see the need for a roller and scrubber and skimmer?
Refugiums are great for nutrient export, Pods and live rock

I am currently building a some where my fleece roller is going to be behind the skimmer. Even though I’m pretty sure I’m gonna have a lot of space in there I kind of think that maybe timing cleaning the skimmer at the same time you have to change your fleece roller will make you keep up with the maintenance. And the return chamber may be OK back there as long as you can get in there and clean it out and get to your pump I prefer it to be more accessible

I dont see why not, I’ve been out of the game for a while but i know people use filter socks, skimmers, and refugiums. The way i see it the roller is a replacement for the socks and the scrubber is a replacement for the fuge. I am somewhat concerned about zeroing out my tank but i think i might be able to control that through feeding and shortening/lengthening the time the scrubber lights are on.....but like i said ive been out for a while so if my opinion is misguided please let me know
