hello, so i have a fluval evo but would like to upgrade. im looking into a fijicube rimless overflow that is predrilled and ive been toying with the idea of using the evo as a sump for this, im not an expert and would like some help with a design, this is what ive come up with im not surewhat size pump to use for the return or whether the stock evo chamber will be able to keep up.

Interesting using the aio chambers with the small bump. This looks very practical but what about water lines and potential splashing noise? Is the water from the refugium going to be the same as the return? Same for the drain to refugium.

A Sump is never completely full of water. It provides the overhead room for when you turn off your return to hold the water from your display before pumping it back into the aquarium. Using the AIO chamber forces you to keep all sections full besides the display return area. Which means you won't have any overhead to hold your displays water. To be honest, if I was you, I'd just get the FijiCube full Package that comes with a stand and sump... See below:

I'm not really familiar with aio aquariums or on the size of that particular one but could you not use the display part as your sump and the aio bit for an ato or something instead of using it for filtration because like what's been said already it'd force you to have to have the water level too high.

If you're going to use the tank, just cut the AIO chamber out and make your own baffle system. Those 3 tiny chambers are doing nothing for you, limiting you to that design/layout, and forcing an additional pump on you. It's only held in there by Silicone I think (I have the Fluval Flex 123/32.5 and it's definitely only siliconed in).

Yea for me it’s been a learn as you go with sump designs. I’ve made a few and a couple aio im still learning something new each time. You may need to punch holes in your AiO to manipulate the water levels to go with what what @FishOkay mentioned earlier

yea, you're right a little silicone is all it iss ill remove the small chambers thanks for the help.
