I got the below tank pretty cheap, however I don't like the idea of the single drain due to blocking etc.

Any ideas on an easy way to add a second drain or is it a case of removing the weir and replace with a bigger one.

thanks :)

No room to drill another hole in that overflow
Are sides of the tank tempered? If not you could drill for a backup drain (single hole near top of tank with a strainer cover) or overflow box (like the eshopps eclipse) and use that as the main siphon and use this as emergency drain. Other option is to drill 2nd hole in bottom of the tank (assuming bottom isn’t tempered) next to overflow for backup drain but that would cost you more display floor space for corals.

As suggested, if you want redundancy then your options are to drill the bottom or side/back of the tank or add an HOB overflow. If you choose to drill a hole in the bottom, you don’t necessarily need to remove the weir you could add another one if the opposite rear corner. Before you start drilling you will want to check whether or not that specific panel is tempered (drilling tempered glass is strongly not recommended). Some tanks may be tempered on one panel (such as the bottom) and not tempered on another (such as the sides). There are several YouTube videos explaining how to use polarized lenses to tell if glass is tempered. Good luck!

Agreed
Except if you are going to drill another hole you might as well drill 2, in back, plug the hole on bottom or use it for return, and go with ghost overflow
