Hi guys,

I've added a cheap clip-on fan on the sump, it is working great but noticed today that it was all wet water was literally dripping from it. Moisture / evaporation collect on it and it is scary I don't think this thing is water proof.

Did anyone got same issue and how bad it is?
Thank you.

Following. I'll be adding a fan to my sump when summer comes around. I didn't think this would happen. I thought the fan would dry itself [emoji23]

Fans with their cooling/evaporation properties require some ventilation to prevent the build up of moisture in the stand.

I have a large open area on the back of the stand. So what is your suggestion ?
I didn't see any moisture in the stand only on the fan itself.

Do you have your fan directly over the sump blowing down?

I have 2 that are to the side of the sump blowing in slightly downwards but mostly accross.

Yes, directly, parallel to the water. I think I just need to find an other spot not so close. :)

You don't say if the fan was running or not at the time. I'm guessing that it was not since you describe water dripping from it. I find it hard to believe that it was condensation that was doing that. Condensation generally requires a surface that is cooler than the moist air. I would be inclined to look for bubbles near the fan popping and sending small particles of water that landed on the fan.

Was that the only thing in the area that was wet? Are you talking about the fan blades being wet or just the fan blade cage? Was the motor wet also?

More information would be helpful.

I've placed the fan 45 degree over the water surface and a little behind the sump and it fixed the issue. Thanks.
