When I was doing my water change this morning I noticed a bunch of flatworms in the water surface and throughout the chaeto. Anyone know what these are? They are swimming on the surface which I haven’t seen before.

P.S. please try to ignore the nasty sump.

Siphon as many as you can and I would consider adding a lunare or melanurus wrasse to the sump who will eat them.
If theyre in the sump, theyre likely in the tank.
If they get ahead of you, you may want to use Salifert Flatwork stop which will take them down BUT siphon the dead ones which Can release toxins.

I’ve had flatworm issues that I battled on previous tanks so I know how to fight it. My real concern right off is how the heck they got in there and what they eat. Besides one snail I have no livestock in the sump. I stared dosing phyto about 2 weeks ago so I’m thinking they’re algae eaters since they’re blooming in the sump and nothing else has been added or changed. They weird thing is I have dipped every coral that came into my tank and I have 200 micron filter socks on the drains so it was either on that snail or the “clean chaeto” from algae barn I got a year ago.

Perhaps the corals had eggs on them that weren’t taken out by the dips? Same with the snail.
