I've recently heard discussion about the amount of water flow through the sump and was wondering about others thoughts about having a slower flow through the sump.

Thanks.

Its a choice we make some like slow flow others like myself go with high flow 15 times per hour on my system.

There are lots of thoughts on this, but for me I run it slower around 4x for a couple of reasons. First, I like to have high flow within the display tank in order to keep all the detritus and other particulates in suspension. That way they flow back into the sump where the low flow allows them to settle out and be removed with a manual cleaning every so often. Second, I believe it makes for more efficient skimming. If your passing water by your skimmer faster then it can process it then its not going to be the most efficient. There are more, but these are the two primary ones for me. Thanks,

Jon...
