sump for 220g???

hello,

may i have some advice and or experience concerning a 220g (72x24x30) sump choice? i had the tank and stand delivered today, and my issue is not having a large enough opening for the 48" sump i was planning....

front and back doors / openings are only 30" wide, which means i can fit a 36"x18" footprint.... i was really hoping to use a 48"x 18" sump... i don't want to cut into stand because it will void the warranty....

i will be using a ro 220int skimmer which needs a 16 1/2 x 12 1/2 footprint...

??? does anyone know how much water will usually feedback into the sump from a 220g when the pump turns off? this is a concern, and a major reason i wanted a larger sump...

??? what size sump do you have on a 220g?

options i can think of...

- 50g breeder 36" x 18" x 19", made into sump
- 65g 36" x 18" x 24", made into sump
- custom acrylic sump, but will still have to keep either 36x18 or 30x21 footprint because of doors.

You fit what you can fit into the space provided. If you can't cut into the stand, then get the largest sump that will fit.

Can you put one in from the top? I'm fixing to do a 180 and ordered a 48" and will remove two braces they have screws put the sump in then put the tank on the stand!

after going back and forth with the president of r & j aquatics, i'm following his suggestion and cutting the stand.... it just stinks that i have to cut a brand new stand to fit a sump into it! :-/ i'm seriously debating on writing an online review to warn the next guy...the stand is beautiful, but access is very limited....

greg b, no screws are visible on the upper or lower braces... so, you can't just unscrew them and drop in a sump on this stand...

I have a 110 (72Lx17Dx16H) sump for my 220 (72Lx24Dx30H)
