I have a 20g long reef ive been slowly putting together but has been running for 6 months or so. Ive only ran one tank with a sump before and I was kind of confused then as well so im trying to simplify the process again this time. Here is my thought. I have a 10g in my basement I was going to use as a sump/fuge, but knowing that a 10g doesnt make for much volume I was hoping to make it a bit less than standard. Here is my thought, Use the whole tank besides like one baffle for the return section, Use the HOB Reef Octopus skimmer that is currently on the tank on the sump tank instead so its out of sight. I will also put my heaters in the sump and use the HOB filter thats on the tank now (used for chemipure elite) in the sump as well. That all being said I could use the sump tank practically full and with a very small return section to get the most use out of the 10g tank. Then the whole other section could house macro algae and rocks. I most likely wont use sand in the fuge. Chaeto and rocks were my first thought. So what do you all think? I appreciate your opinions!
