Sump Help - Stagnant Skimmer chamber

The water surface in my skimmer chamber seems to be stagnant.
This is a Sapphire 34, I have the water level above the 'Fish' cut out.
What would you do? The Skimmer chamber and refugium chambers what levels are connected.
Should I lower the water level? See images and THANK YOU

Maybe put a small powerhead in that chamber. Aim it slightly towards the surface to keep that scum from forming. It will also help keep detritus suspended a bit longer to help more of it to get picked up by the skimmer.

Thank you for the suggestion, I actually have a spare koralia pump around here someplace.

agreed ! I have a small maxi jet with a foam strainer on the intake .Keeps the crud from building & chaeto tumbling etc.
