Sump help!

I purchased this sump for 50 bucks used it was an impulse buy but i felt like it was worth it. I havent seen another sump with this setup any help on fuge and skimmer placement would be appreciated. I drew arrows to show flow and im assuming the black part is for filter floss.

Following. I've never seen one like that before. Is the overflow section big enough that you could loose the plate and egg crate and hang a filter sock or two and still have room for a skimmer? Can't really tell how big it is.

Yes i think so, the sumps actual measurements are 16 inches high 24 long and 14 wide if that helps. the actual overflow is 8" X 9".
