Sump ideas for my tank (small space underneath)

So thinking of going diy sump underneath stand but there’s just barely any room. I’ve got like 17.5” from bottom to top underneath. Anyone have this tank stand? It’s not drilled so I’ve got overflow box on the back with currently a wet/dry sump with bio balls which I’m slowly getting out of the tank now. I would like a diy sump nothing crazy expensive.

Was also thinking of just cutting out that shelf for all the room but would look weird with doors for nothing lol guess from keeping kids and dogs away lol
