I am thinking about moving my sump from under my tank to my basement. The part of the basement I want to put it in would require about a 30' run and an 8 foot drop. Anyone have experience with roughly that same kind of thing? Also, what is the added head pressure of a horizontal foot? (2) 1" drains, (2) 3/4 returns

Thank you

I believe a wet room is one of the best setups you can do. As suggested above a good external pump is a great option. Two returns are even better but get pricey.

You can often supersize your sump and fuge this way. Lots of people use the rubbermaid troughs. One guy I knew used two troughs and put them inside a kiddie pool in case of overflow. Better design is if your can run a floor drain.

With that kind of horizontal/vertical run I'd strongly recommend going with 1 1/2" pipe as far as you can. When I switched from 1 to 1 1/2" flex PVC (and removed all barb fittings) on my panworld 200, flow jumped from 950 to almost 1,400 gph. Makes a huge difference. You'll get plenty of flow through those 1" drains, though be mindful to keep a slight downward slope on the horizontal runs.

One of the best mods I ever made, now I have plenty of room for all the equipment and the whole system runs cooler and have no need for a chiller. Also, much easier to work on vs. cramming everything in the cabinet.

There are good head pressure calculators out there. I run 1” into 3/4 inch back to the tank. about a 30 ft horizontal run and up about 12 feet. I use two Iwaki 55RLTs. In total I push about a 1000 GPH.

You will definitely need a pressure rated pump

Lots of ppl have done this, i would if we had basements in CA. Just make sure to get a good reliable pump, abyzz would be the high end, and i would say reeflo would be mid, low end, im sure jeabo makes a large enough pump to run that far.

Just put a basement sump in 3months ago and love it. I used both bulkheads (the 1" and 3/4") as drains into 1-1/2" pipe using a combination of hard and flex pvc for each overflow. Then used a 1-1/2" combination plumbing the return up and over the back of the tank splitting it to 2 1" outlets. Tank runs silent and plenty of room without being bent over. Also added a frag tank.
