Not sure where to post this but I would like to hear your views on it. I am planning to have the sump in my basement’s laundry room But am concerned about the cloth detergent smell that stays in the air when cloths are hanguing out to dry after washing. Am I being ultra paranoid here? In the end smells are small particles that travell through the air so theorectivally it means they can be pulled by the skimmer… Any thoughts?

Cheers and many thanks!

I only recently (1yr ago) moved my tank and sump from the laundry room. In the back corner is still the water mixing station and assorted items, I never had an issue.

Thank you for your reply. DO you set the clothes to dry in that same room as well? How long were they there?

Thanks!

I can't lie, I'm not the one who does the laundry, the extent of my stay was feeding fish and corals tank maintenance etc. The GF would on occasion leave a basket if towels for a period of 4/5 days from the dryer.

My wife uses bleach sometimes to clean the socks and get them whiter and I would assume that the bleach in the air sucking through the skimmer would cause an issue I would not risk it personally although my sump is in my basement that is open with the laundry room but it’s like 900 ft.² in the same room not closed off
