So I am going to put together a 75g tank shortly. As far as a sump goes, if i wanted to do one myself, can i use a smaller tank? Are there kitsch out there to convert a fishtank into a sump? What size sump is good and what would be overkill for a 75g display? It is going to be a reef tank. What are the major must haves in your sump for a reef?

Thanks for the info.

It's just as easy to make your own baffles, acrylic sheets can be purchased from home depot.

I’ve seen that acrylic like from Home Depot and glass don’t bond well together...anyone know if this is true or have an experience with it?

That's absolutely true, however there's very little pressure on baffles and a thick bead of silicone is sufficient to hold them in place.

I’ve always made my own using acrylic siliconed to glass, I’ve never had any problems with it. Just make sure the bead is nice and solid on either side of the acrylic. You can even have Home Depot cut the acrylic for you if you don’t feel comfortable doing yourself.
