I'm new to sumps and having some issues. Tank is 210 gallons with 2 overflows , aqueon proflex model 4 30 gallon sump ,two 900gph pumps one to each return. One of the drains the water level fluctuates down to the holes on the side of the drain pipe then back up its making lot of noise and putting a lot of bubbles into the sump. Here's a video.

The overflow that's doing this is taking in more water than the other. I checked the tank with a level and it looks pretty good.

I drilled the hole in the top of the drain pipe that's doing this big enough to put a air line down to see if there was a air pocket in there and that didn't help. What's going on ? How do I fix this ? Make the air hole in the top of the drain pipe bigger ?

Yes make the air hole bigger, it needs more airflow. Go a little at a time to dial it in, that water in the overflow should be pretty steady.

Would adding some valves on the returns help any?

Yes .... yes it would if you throttle back the returns a little it will help. What is happening is your out pacing your drain. Your going into a surge or full siphon briefly and then it chugs down a bunch of water. Slow down those returns and your problem will go away. [emoji4]

If pumps arnt variable speed maybe you could t off the feed line and feed a reactor if you havnt already. Or just add it back into the sump.
