What a morning it has been. Wife woke me up at 2 AM saying some weird noises were coming from the tank. I didnt think too much of it until I walked into my office where the tank is and walked onto wet carpet. Then the panic set in.

I quickly opened the door to the sump area only to find that my Skimmer had somehow began to severely overflow itself throwing a ton of water out of the sump and onto the bottom of the cabinet which leaked out onto the carpet. This is on the main floor. Went down to the basement and saw that the water was coming down the unfinished part of the dry wall and pooling on the floor. I am so glad I caught it as I have 2 large freezers thats outlets got wet and threw the GFCI, if I hadnt caught that I would have lost the whole cow that we just purchased.

Basement is dry as of this morning and letting every fan we have in the house dry the carpet along with a dehumidifier.

Im convinced something like this was bound to happen at somepoint.

What a mess, I'm really sorry to hear that :( my algae scrubber did something similar, it started spilling water all over the place because algae had clogged the screen. I only lost about a gallon though.

Just goes to show you, on a long enough timeline, just about anything can happen

So as a follow up my ATO 'overfilled' today approximately 10 gallons on the floor. I also have water coming through plumbing that goes to my unfinished part of the basement. I have shop vac'd all I can and towelled up all I can...and now have a fan running over it...

Here is my question...

How is your floor, the smell, etc now? Did you have to do anything to get it 'back to normal'? I am mainly worried about UNDER the tank/sump and that it will not dry out for quite awhile. I am glad it was RODI water but didn't know if you had problems with carpet, pad, floor, etc after yours?

My ALD from neptune arrives on Thursday..... :(

I would pull up a small area of carpet from tack strip just enough to get a turbo fan running under it to make sure you dry thoroughly under carpet and padding.

HD rents these.

With you there. My problem is that the tank and stand are ON the carpet and I can get back to where some of the water is... I am actually even thinking of taking the sump out and taking up the 'floor' of the stand to get down to it....

Here are some old pics.... BEFORE it was going... About 2 months ago...

Sorry to hijack this thread.. - I am going to put the video of this on another thread...
