Does the macroalgae in our refugiums need a dark/resting period each day? I have a clamp on white LED light under my tank that I like to leave on 24/7 so I can quickly eyeball the condition of all the stuff under there. Do I need to start turning that off for part of the day or night?

Also, I just purchased a chaeto light (mostly red with a little blue) and not sure if I should use that WITH the white LED lamp or by itself? And night or day? Do I need both the white LED's and the chaeto grow lamp? Can't find much info about that anywhere.

Thanks in advance.

Hey -
I run my refuge light to grow Chaeto which is only red blue the opposite of my display lights. I have leds under the stand if I ever need to look around. I may have to shorten my refuge light period as I’m getting algae in the sump. Better than display I suppose
