Sump media

Hi all,

There is a picture below of my Sump. My question is could i use scoria as a media or would it work if i put live rock with a light in there. As you can see i only have that space for biological media.

You could try a variety of things in addition to live rock...

Sintered Glass
MarinePure Spheres
MarinePure Blocks
MarinePure Bagged
Eheim Substrate
Bio Balls

Do NOT use marinepure if you have sps. I bough the cubes and they nearly wiped my tank. In doing research the are made with an aluminum ion that they release. Some corals are fine with it some aren't.

As far as the marinepure goes there are plenty of people running it and as far as I know the triton test are not showing any elevations in metal because of it.

+1, my acro's and milli's are thriving, cyphastrea growing strong, LPS and Softies all looking good and I'm using a lot of the stuff.

I like having live rock in my sump. No need for a light unless you are going to put macroalgae in there also.
