Hello, all!

I have been trying to tune my sump pump and gate valve and have done an okay job I think. I have a RSR 250 with stock equipment (V3). Problem is, I have noticed that my salinity has dropped to ~1.022-1.023 and my concern is that my ATO is diluting my water.

If my sump chamber is too low and my float valve is “open” too much could this lead to a drop in salinity over time?

I do feel like I’ve had to fill my ATO box with A LOT of RODI water but I just assumed my evaporation was higher in the bigger tank (recently upgraded from a 28g).

I appreciate any help!!

If the pump rate is not stable then the water level is going to fluctuate and impact the salinity when the ato fills the gap. It normally should balance out with the pump chamber level being overfilled when the pump is running slow and dropping down to the ato active level when it is running fast. Evaporation will be topped off during the latter situation, ime. If you have creeping salinity then you may be exporting salt through the skimmer or through salt creep or even a leak?

I love my ato but they need to be functional or they will create problems instead of preventing them.

Thank you for your reply. Just found out my friends refractometer was calibrated incorrectly.

All good now!
