Sump question

Hey everyone im in the process of building a sump for my 110g tank i was planning on doing a refugium with copepods but after reading and speaking with others im leaving the refugium out i want to use some of the space in the sump for live rock and copepods living space the question is? without a refugium light will the copepods thrive and reproduce?

Also you could line the bottom with rubble and rocks and just have the chaeto float above it
