I’m setting up a 300 gallon FOWLR tank. I am looking for ideas on a sump/filtration. Flow?Do I need a skimmer or can I run an algae reactor? Currently only have a Stars and Stripes puffer to put in it. Any information is greatly appreciated.

Both a skimmer and a refugium or algae reactor will help keep water quality up, which reduces water changes, at least that’s how I look at it.

you don’t need to fill your sump with stuff to start, but having some space available in your sump for those things will be great when you get there (and need it)

I’d like to keep things on the cheaper side. Any ideas on what to use for a sump? I already have a 125 reef so this 300 will forever be a FOWLR tank. I was also considering a fx6 canister!?!???

I don’t know, maybe a used aquarium, or whatever you can fit in the space that you have
