I’m planning on building a cheap sump for my 36g at the first of the year and was wounding if there’s away to build without putting dividers in. Maybe little trays etc.

I don't see how trays are going to stay put with the flow. The dividers are tried and true... good to go with what's known. Plus, you need the return section divided off if you plan on using an ATO in order to pick up on subtle depth changes from evaporation.

You definitely can. If you search around you'll find some ideas. It has its pros and cons like any thing else.

I’ve tryed looking can’t find anything see lots of easy freshwater ones

Will more than likely be be toping off I don’t have a ato atm
