Sump questions

So I'm planning my sump for my future build. It will be a 40g sump. I have drawn up the idea and thought I would run it through you guys.

First a side veiw

Questions here.
1 the last baffle in each section controls the water height in that section?
2 would a 10 inch water level mess up the skimmer being an inch over the optimal level of water for skimmer?
Thoughts on the side veiw?

Would the drain into sump and skimmer work in this layout?
Is and inch on each side of skimmer enough room for the skimmer to work properly?

That pretty much the plan. I will be building my own stand so a tight skimmer section won't hurt cleaning. I plan to have plenty of room to pull skimmer out.

An inch around skimmer should work.
Could always place the skimmer on something to raise it to desired level.
 
Usual skimmers recommend a range. Let’s say they recommend between 8.5 to 10 inches. Would try to be in that range for best results.
One skimmer’s range can be different than another’s
