Hey guys so I have a 70 gallon cube that I have a wet/dry type system on now with a filter pad and the. The water flows over live rock instead of bio balls.

I am contemplating replacing it with just a standard 30 gallon tank with the Berlin sock mount on it and place some live rock in the sump and my new super reef octopus 1000 I'm getting.

I basically wanted opinions on if you guys think it's really worth spending the few hundred on an actual designed sump or just spending about $80 and using a regular 30 gallon with the Berlin sock mount on it?

If you are looking for a standard 30 gallon tank and you have Petcos in close proximity, you could wait until they have their $1 per gallon sale.

I prefer the DIY approach but the manufactured sumps look really nice,I like being able to design exactly what I want so I say go DIY and save some money for coral or fish :D

Yeah I was going to go to petco when they have that sale. It would be a pain to redesign the current setup. Plus I wanted something a little bigger although I really like the look of the aqueon proflex sumps
