Sump ratio

The biggest you have room for in my opinion.
Just for fun, what should the minimum sump size be for this 60 gallon? Percentage-wise for any tank? Opinions?

That all depends on bioload and what you want the sump for. Fuge, socks, skimmer, reactors, etc... The bigger the fuge the more space you have to work with.

60g cube here. Mine is a Fiji-20 which is the biggest I could fit in my stand with the other equipment I have. There's also a Fiji-24 which would technically fit but I'd have no room for anything else.

If your stand has room for a standard 40gallon breeder tank, that’s a great option for that size. 36x19x17. Amazon has kits for adjustable chambers or there are many threads in the DIY forum for glass baffling designs.

I always viewed 1/3 as about right. Does depend a bit on what you want to use the sump for, but if you assume that the ability to safely hold drain down is the most important thing, then 20 gallon sump is probably good for a 60 gallon display.
