I am finally building an ATS. However because I currently have a 40b under a 90g which consumes almost all the useable space. I need to setup a smaller sump in order to fit the ATS. I also wouldn't mind reclaiming some space under the tank. I think I will likely be going through at least a couple of revisions in the next year, but I picked up a bunch of acrylic cheap from a member of my local club so I have plenty of material to work with. Current plan is to build a basic ATS fed by a pump with a drain line running down into the sump.

I'm not sure if I want to pickup a 20g cheap to use or if I'd rather purchase a sump. I live within driving distance of BRS so I've been looking at the sump options they carry. Just not sure if I can justify the cost over buying a 20-30g and tossing in a few baffles.

I also pre-ordered a COR20. I previously was running a pair of jeabo pumps. One as the primary return and the other as secondary running at low speed through a UV. The controller or power supply for the secondary pump died around a year ago, and the UV has just been dormant.
Watching the video Neptune posted they talk about using 1.25" for the COR to maximize flow. My system is plumbed for a pair of 3/4" returns, only one of which is in use currently. So while I realize going from 1.25" to a Y into a pair of 3/4" returns would still reduce the total flow compared to a single 1.25". But I would expect it would still significantly increase flow through the system.

I don't know that I have any specific questions, more so just curious if anyone has input. DIY vs manufactured sump. Any issues I'm not thinking of with splitting a 1.25" feed from the cor into a pair of 3/4". Suggestions on ATS setup.

No advice here just my 2 cents.
I want to get a prebuilt sump someday the flexibility and add on feature are worth the extra money in my opinion and then there’s the clean look and colors to customize with but right now I have a small tank sitting on top of my sump as I didn’t have room to build out so I built up! the tank is connected to a float valve in the return chamber
